Durex Network

Introduction to the Durex Network

Durex Network Logo

The Durex Network was founded in 2005 to promote the importance of good sexual health on a global level. It develops key initiatives that harness the expertise of international organisations, healthcare professionals, educators and politicians to raise awareness of the safer sex message, communicate a ‘prevention not cure’ ethos and encourage consistent condom use. The Durex Network’s core vision is to inspire people to take responsibility for their sexual health, based on the principle that information leads to knowledge which, in turn, leads to action.

Dance4Life Activities

The Durex Network promotes and supports projects that encourage people to take responsibility for their sexual health. It is a founding sponsor of Dance4Life, which works in collaboration with the World AIDS Campaign to inform young people about HIV/AIDS through the power of dance, music and performance. A broad range of grassroots initiatives, including school tours, dance events and life-skills workshops, culminate in the biennial Dance4Life Event, held on the Saturday before World AIDS Day.

Advocacy

Through its work with non-governmental organisations, educators and healthcare professionals and others, the Durex Network acts as an advocate on global sexual health issues. Two key areas of advocacy work are:

  • Membership of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which brings together the expertise of more than 200 leading corporations to combat the spread of three of the world’s most deadly diseases.
  • The European Commission Roundtable on HIV/AIDS and Youth, which seeks to influence the European Commission to implement safer sex campaigns across the European Union.
