Students Partnership Worldwide

SSL is working with a charitable organisation, Students Partnership Worldwide ('SPW') to provide our employees with placement opportunities in these communities allowing them to channel their knowledge and expertise in areas such as marketing, finance and HR, to support new social marketing activities.

SPW is a charitable organisation established to encourage young people to volunteer as peer educators in rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia to lead health and environmental programmes.

Outward Bounds

The Outward Bound Trust

SSL is a Patron Company Member of The Outward Bounds Trust, whose mission is to unlock the potential in young people through discovery and adventure in the wild.

Founded in 1941, The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity that inspires young people to fulfill their potential through challenging outdoor experiences, raising self-esteem and preparing them to face the future with confidence. Charitable donations support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds for whom this experience is truly life changing.

Work in Local Communities

Work in Local Communities

At our commercial and manufacturing sites across the globe, employees engage in local community work.

In December 2006, employees in our commercial office in Thailand held a ‘Social Responsibility Day’ to assist in the recovery programme of a primary school in the Ayudhaya province following damage and destruction caused by flooding.

A team from Durham Education Business Partnership, which runs projects to help enrich the education of pupils and enhance their employability, visited our factory in Peterlee, UK to film employees at work. The purpose was to develop their ‘Maths at Work’ project, which aims to provide maths teachers with on-line footage of professionals using maths as part of their jobs.
