The Board of SSL International plc, the global manufacturer and distributor of premium healthcare products, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Buchan as Chief Executive with effect from 12 March 2001.
Brian, age 48, joined Procter & Gamble in 1974 having graduated from Jesus College, Oxford with First Class Honours. During his Procter & Gamble career he has worked extensively in its international businesses in Europe, North America and the Far East. His last position was as an Officer of the company and President of Feminine Care global operations. In this role Brian was responsible for a global business with revenues in excess of £2 billion.
Prior to this he was responsible for Procter & Gamble's largest international subsidiary operations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as the Fabric Softener and Dishwashing businesses across Europe. Throughout his career he has been particularly associated with the Baby and Feminine care business of Procter & Gamble including the European launch of the 'Always' feminine protection product range.
Following the appointment of Brian Buchan, Dieno George, interim Chief Executive, will return to his former role of Managing Director - Continental Europe.
